Meet the distinguished speakers participating in this event.
Hussein Ali Safadi
is the Chief Executive Officer of the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), bringing over 25 years of experience across the public and private sectors. He plays a key role in positioning Aqaba as a dynamic economic hub, driving investment in tourism, logistics, manufacturing, and creative industries. He also serves as Chairman of the Aqaba Company for Ports Operation and Management, the Aqaba Airport Company, and the Aqaba International School. With extensive experience in real estate development, he has led the sales and marketing of major Aqaba projects including Saraya Aqaba and Tala Bay. He holds a B.Sc. in Economics and Politics, with a minor in Public Administration and Strategic Studies, from the United Kingdom.
Dr. Yousef Alshawarbeh
is the Mayor of Amman, a position he has held since August 2017. Since January 2020 he has also chaired Amman Vision Investment & Development. His public career includes serving as Chairman of the Board of Addustour newspaper (2016), Minister of Political Development and Parliamentary Affairs (2016), and Deputy Mayor of Amman (2013–2016). He began his professional career as a lawyer and legal adviser in 1998.
Karim Makhlouf
has more than 27 years’ experience in the airline industry with expertise and focus on turnaround, change management, and start-up airlines. He has been at C-Level for the last 15 years in various airlines in Europe, the Gulf, and the Middle East. He was appointed Chief Commercial Officer at Royal Jordanian Airlines in June 2021 and developed the new 5-year restructuring and growth plan for the airline. Prior to that, he was Chief Commercial Officer of SaudiGulf Airlines and a member of the founding management team of that start-up in KSA. Karim also worked as Chief Commercial Officer in Europe and the Gulf for both low-cost and legacy carriers, such as Gulf Air, Malév, and SkyEurope. He started his career with the Lufthansa Group in Network and Revenue Management and was a member of the founding management team of Germanwings/Eurowings, Lufthansa’s low-cost subsidiary.
Abeer Al-Majali
is an Implementation Manager at Acacus Group, with extensive experience in transport, logistics, and project implementation. Previously the Director of Freight Transport at the Land Transport Regulatory Commission, she contributed to policy development, operational improvement, and regulatory oversight. She is recognized for leading complex operational projects, institutional development initiatives, and smart transport solutions, with a strong track record in managing hazardous materials transportation in full compliance with international standards.
Eng. Mohammad Al-Smadi
holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Communication and Electronic Engineering. He brings over 25 years of public service with the Government of Jordan, specializing in intelligence, digital transformation, and cybersecurity. He led national initiatives to counter cyber threats — including founding Jordan’s Threat Hunting Team and coordinating critical-infrastructure protection — and contributed to shaping cybersecurity legislation and advancing the country’s national cybersecurity capabilities.
Eng. Nidal Bitar
has been the Chief Executive Officer of int@j — the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan — since January 2016. He brings over 25 years of experience in the ICT sector and entrepreneurship across Jordan and the MENA region, beginning after his graduation from the University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth in the USA. He previously served as CEO of Optimiza Academy and of the Strategic Center for Organizational Performance Improvement (SCOPI). He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Tafila Technical University, a former member of the National Cyber Security Council, and holds leadership memberships across several local and international bodies, including the World Innovation, Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) and the Arab ICT Union.
Nabil Mohammad Mahmoud Al-Khatib
is a prominent Jordanian and Arab businessman with more than fifty years of experience in transport management and strategic planning across the transport, maritime shipping, logistics, and chambers-of-commerce sectors, both locally and internationally. He has served as General Manager and CEO of the Maltrans Group of Companies since 1999. He holds a BA in English Language from the University of Damascus and specialized diplomas in ports and container management from institutions in the USA, Norway, and the UK. He holds numerous leadership positions, including President of the Jordanian Logistics Syndicate and of the National Council for Logistics Skills, Chairman of the Capital Governorate Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Amman Chamber of Commerce.
Khaled Al-Khawaldeh
has more than 20 years in the airline industry, with cargo and logistics competencies, having held a senior cargo position for more than 10 years. Through his journey at Royal Jordanian, he built expertise across many areas — as Cargo Revenue Management and Interline Agreements Manager, Jordan Sales Manager, e-freight Project Manager, Senior Manager of Global Sales, and currently Cargo Commercial Director running the cargo commercial aspects and leading six teams (Jordan Sales, Global Sales and General Sales Agencies, Pricing and Revenue Management, Charter Sales, Interline and Trucking Agreements, Planning and Performance, and Courier and Mail Sales). A skilled logistics professional with proven experience in building teams, forging successful relationships with local and global stakeholders, and developing effective cargo sales and marketing strategies, Khaled leads the cargo commercial function under Royal Jordanian’s management.
Abdessalam Obeidat
is a senior transport and logistics leader with more than 22 years of experience advancing port development, customs modernization, and trade facilitation in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone. As Chief Transport and Logistics Officer at the Aqaba Development Corporation, he oversees strategic planning for the ports and airport, manages concession and PPP agreements, and drives operational and performance improvements across logistics projects. His background spans supply-chain consulting, feasibility studies, port master planning, customs and revenue management, and international cooperation initiatives supporting youth training in the logistics sector. He also serves on the boards of several ADC subsidiaries within the ports and logistics community in Aqaba.
Engineer Omar Aldabbas
is the Director General of the Jordan Maritime Commission, where he leads the national authority responsible for regulating, developing, and overseeing Jordan’s maritime sector. With extensive experience in maritime administration, engineering, and regulatory governance, he plays a key role in enhancing maritime safety, environmental protection, and compliance with international maritime conventions.
Dr. Jihad Al-Sawa’ir
currently serves as Advisor to the Minister of Environment for Technical and International Affairs. He has previously held numerous positions within the Ministry, including Acting Secretary General, Director of the Green Economy Unit, Director of Waste and Hazardous Materials Management, and Director of Environmental Monitoring and Assessment. At the Aqaba authority he served as Director of the Environment Directorate and Director of the Ibn Hayyan Laboratories for Environmental and Food Testing, and at the Royal Scientific Society as a senior environmental researcher. He holds a PhD in Environmental Science from the University of Nevada, Reno (USA) and brings extensive experience in climate action, green growth, and environmental protection.
Shola Akindes
is an Investment Officer in the World Bank Group IFC’s Infrastructure Team based in Amman, Jordan, covering the Middle East and Central Asia. He has 13 years of experience in project finance and equity investments. Prior to joining IFC, he was Investment Manager at AIIM (Old Mutual Group), in charge of structuring and executing infrastructure investments in Africa. He led transactions across various sectors (power & energy, transportation, and telecommunications), from deal sourcing, investment appraisal, and execution to portfolio monitoring and board representation. He has also worked at KPMG Corporate Finance in Paris and at Fieldstone Africa in London, where he supported the structuring of various projects in Europe and Africa, focusing on financial modelling for financing or M&A and working on power projects from an early stage of development. Shola holds an MSc in Finance from Paris Panthéon-Assas University (France).
Laith Zayadeen
is the Smart Cities Director at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), where he leads initiatives integrating urban mobility, transport infrastructure, data-driven planning, and investment readiness. He holds a Master’s degree in Intelligent Transportation Systems and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. His work spans smart city development, transport-related infrastructure planning, and donor-funded programs. Through his role, he focuses on how finance, investment frameworks, and risk mitigation mechanisms can enable sustainable, technology-driven transport sector development.
Prof. Dr. Alaa Mahmoud Morsy
is Dean of the Ports Training Institute and of the Research and Consultancy Center for the Maritime Transport Sector at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, and has served as President of the International Maritime Shipping Alliance in China since 2025. A Professor of Structural Engineering at the Academy’s College of Engineering and Technology, he is also Vice President of the International Academy for Ports Knowledge and Logistics (PLIKA) in Barcelona. He holds a PhD and MSc in Structural Engineering from Alexandria University and has an extensive record of engineering consultancy for ports and concrete structures, alongside numerous keynote appearances at international conferences and a substantial body of published research.
Eng. Nour M. Al-Mbaidin
is the Acting Director of the Aqaba National Vocational Training Hub (ANVT Hub), leading its strategy, institutional development, and partnerships with national and international stakeholders. With a background in industrial engineering, she has worked across aviation, construction, maritime services, and vocational training, building extensive experience in quality management, compliance, and organizational excellence. She previously served as Head of the Quality Department at the Hub, where she implemented an ISO-aligned Quality Management System, and earlier held roles with Jordan Aviation, BUTEC, and the Aqaba Port Marine Services Company (APMSCO). A certified EFQM assessor, she holds a degree in Industrial Systems Engineering from Mut’ah University and is a member of the Arab Women in Maritime Association.
